"MEPPI Japan Lecture Series – U.S.-Japan Relations from a U.S. Government Perspective", downtown on January 21.

The Japan-America Society of Pennsylvania will host Joseph Young and his talk "U.S.-Japan Relations from a U.S. Government Perspective" on January 21.

Mr. Joseph Young currently serves as Director of the Office of Japanese Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. He was the Deputy Foreign Policy Advisor at U.S. Pacific Command in Hawaii from 2012 to 2014, after having served as Chief of U.S. Embassy Tokyo's Political-Military Unit from 2009 to 2012. Mr. Young has worked in a number of U.S. Embassies around the world, including in Dublin, Beijing, Nairobi, and Singapore.

Mr. Young will provide a briefing on the current state of U.S.-Japan relations from the perspective of the U.S. government from four main areas: security, economics, global cooperation, and people-to-people ties.

The talk is the year's first installment of the Mitsubishi Electric Power Products [MEPPI] Japan Lecture Series. It's free, but space is limited and online registration is required. The talk will be held at the JASP offices, Room 33C12 of the US Steel Building (map).
