The High School Mandarin Teacher has strong teaching abilities, an understanding of pedagogy and instructional practices, fluency in Mandarin, and a strong interest in environmental studies. The Mandarin Teacher works collaboratively within a team of educators in a High School setting. The teacher works closely with his/her specialist team and provides an introduction to Mandarin in an age-appropriate and developmentally-responsive manner. This role requires experience in language instruction for high school age students. Candidates should be energetic and progressive minded, with a willingness to work collaboratively with grade level and specialist teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement lesson plans by employing a variety of teaching strategies that provide meaningful learning opportunities and promote student engagement
- Create a positive, achievement-oriented, and structured learning environment in which all students can experience success
- Incorporate student engaged assessment practices into instructional delivery model
- Infuse joy and rigor in lessons so that students are excited about and invested in their academic excellence
- Collect observational data to help inform upcoming lessons and support student growth
- Utilize Google platform to manage administrative responsibilities
- Fully participate in opportunities for professional growth
- Keep current in subject matter knowledge and willing to share this knowledge for continual improvement of the school
- Communicate regularly with families to share student progress and develop a supportive home-school relationship
Educational Background and Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- PA teaching certification in Chinese
- Prior years' teaching experience preferred
- Demonstrated experience working with children in grades 9-12
- Experience in teaching a wide range of abilities
- Interest in leading school activities is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with charter schools
Compensation & Benefits
- Minimum starting salary of $43,216 up to a maximum starting salary of $49,556 dependent upon prior years’ teaching experience.
