Candidates must have native language proficiency; hold an M.A. in linguistics, applied linguistics, second language acquisition, or second language pedagogy; and be authorized to work for the University. Our programs are also supported by the University of Pittsburgh’s National East Asian Resource Center and Asian Studies Center.

Duties and responsibilities include:
  • Teaching 6 courses per year or equivalent
  • Holding office hours
  • Developing teaching materials as needed
  • Working with other faculty to further improve the Japanese language program
  • Attending meetings and/or events
  • Accepting departmental duties and assignments
