Signage first went up in late October at 736 Bellefonte St. (map) in the spot formerly occupied by The Yard, where Dr. Tea opened upstairs earlier this year. Kujira---Japanese for whale---has the same ownership team as Bubble Bee, which has opened a few bubble tea spots around the city recently.

Kujira is active on Instagram, where you can find photos and stories of menu items.

Work progresses on Pittsburgh's first Tous les Jours, coming pretty soon to East Liberty.

Work progresses on Pittsburgh's first Tous les Jours Cafe coming soon to East Liberty. Signage first went up for the international Korean bakery chain in June 2023. Tous Les Jours is the first of the big Korean bakery chains to announce a Pittsburgh spot (though it was followed about two months later by another one), and will complement Sumi's Cakery, which has been Pittsburgh's lone Korean bakery since it opened in 2012.  Tous Les Jours, says its US website,
"has developed into a reputable neighborhood bakery specializing in French-Asian inspired baked goods, hand crafted beverages and bold, flavorful coffee and espresso made with the finest ingredients."
While some people may sneer at excitement over (inter)national chains coming to Pittsburgh, I've written before that I actually consider it a healthy sign and representative of Pittsburgh's growing Asian food scene, as these chains have almost completely ignored the region prior to this year. Tous Les Jours will be located in the Eastside Bond Building C, across the street from Target (map).

Margaret Cho: Live and LIVID in Pittsburgh, March 30.

Margaret Cho will bring her Live and LIVID tour to Pittsburgh on March 30, 2024.
Comedian. Actor. Musician. Advocate. Entrepreneur. Five-time Grammy and Emmy nominee. Margaret Cho’s strong voice has been lighting the path for other women, other members of underrepresented groups, other performers, to follow. Her recent television appearances – guest star on Season 2 of The Flight Attendant (HBO Max), guest star on Season 2 of Hacks (HBO Max) and two Netflix is a Joke comedy specials: Stand Out: An LGBTQ+ Celebration and Jane Fonda & Lily Tomlin: Ladies Night Live – have expanded an already wide-ranging career, and her role as the ‘mother hen’ in the well-reviewed movie Fire Island solidifies why we all love Margaret in the first place.

As a comedian Margaret has been named one of Rolling Stone magazine's 50 Best Stand-Up Comics of All Time, one of Vogue magazine’s Top 9 Female Comedians of all time, while CNN chose her as one of the 50 People Who Changed American Comedy. Thankfully, Margaret has more stories to tell, and her production company, Animal Family Productions, has multiple scripted shows in development for 2022 and beyond.
She will perform at the Byham Theater in the Cultural District (map). Tickets for the 7:30 pm show are now available online.
