2014 Korean movie Sea Fog (해무) free at Carnegie Library in Oakland, October 1.
The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh's main branch in Oakland will show the 2014 Korean movie Sea Fog (해무) on October 1 as that month's installment of International Cinema Sunday.

Panda Express restaurants planned for Fox Chapel, Robinson Township, and McKnight Road.
At least three more Panda Express restaurants are planned for the Pittsburgh area, with two in the early stages of construction.
The Fox Chapel and Robinson Township locations do not exist yet, but are already hiring: a store is planned near Freeport and Fox Chapel roads, and another is under construction in a lot next to Longhorn Steakhouse at Robinson Town Centre (map). Last month, a real estate firm from New York, Empire State Realty Trust, formally requested permission to build a restaurant and drive-thru in a parcel outside of the former Good Cents store at Ross Town Center on McKnight Road in the North Hills.
The Chinese fast-casual chain opened in the Pittsburgh area last August and currently operates stores in Cranberry, Monroeville, and West Mifflin.

After long hiatus, Oakland's T.4.U. finally closes.
T.4.U. was an Asian frozen yogurt, dessert, and bubble tea place that opened in Oakland in August 2015. Brought to the neighborhood by the owners of Szechuan Express, it was the second bubble tea place to open in Oakland that summer. After being closed since last fall, it opened for a few days last week before vacating its space at 3501 Forbes Ave. (map).

Japanese animated film In This Corner of the World (この世界の片隅に) coming to Pittsburgh, from August 18.
The 2016 Japanese animated film In This Corner of the World (この世界の片隅に), which will have a limited release in the United States from August 11, will play in Pittsburgh at the Southside Works Cinema from August 18. The distributor summarizes:
The award-winning story of IN THIS CORNER OF THE WORLD follows a young lady named Suzu Urano, who in 1944 moves to the small town of Kure in Hiroshima to live with her husband’s family. Suzu’s life is thrown into chaos when her town is bombed during World War II. Her perseverance and courage underpin this heart-warming and inspirational tale of the everyday challenges faced by the Japanese in the midst of a violent, war-torn country. This beautiful yet poignant tale shows that even in the face of adversity and loss, people can come together and rebuild their lives.In June the movie was named the Best Film at the Toronto Japanese Film Festival.

Duolingo hiring Teaching Expert, Mandarin Chinese.
Duolingo, the online language-learning platform, does not yet offer a Mandarin Chinese course, but it is preparing for one. It is hiring a Teaching Expert, Mandarin Chinese to work at its Pittsburgh headquarters (or to work remotely in-sync with its business hours).
Use your expertise in teaching Mandarin Chinese to help Duolingo users learn better.Duolingo was founded in 2011 by a team from Carnegie Mellon University and is located at 5900 Penn Ave. in East Liberty (map).
Duolingo is looking for an experienced Mandarin Chinese language instructor who is a native or a near-native speaker of Mandarin Chinese. If you have experience designing Mandarin Chinese language curricula and creating different types of language exercises, as well as some linguistic training, this position is perfect for you.
Responsibilities:
- Help design a new curriculum for our Mandarin Chinese course.
- Create course content that effectively teaches a variety of skills, including pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar.
- Provide high quality translations from Mandarin Chinese to English, and from English to Mandarin Chinese.
Requirements:
- Strong interest in the mission of Duolingo.
- Experience teaching Mandarin Chinese as a second language (ideally at college level and to native speakers of English).
- Native or near-native fluency in Mandarin Chinese.
- Linguistic training is a big plus.
- Basic computer skills (Google docs, spreadsheets).
- Ability to work 20-40 hours a week.

Lawrenceville's Ki Ramen to hold soft opening, August 2.
Pittsburgh has been looking forward to Ki Ramen since it was first announced last summer, and the new ramen place will hold its soft opening tomorrow night, August 2.
It's that time! The pop up events were great but now we are excited to invite you to come and take it easy at our house.Ki Ramen is located at 4401 Butler St. in Lawrenceville (map), and is a collaboration between Roger Li of Umami (an izakaya that opened in the neighborhood last year) and Domenic Branduzzi of Piccolo Forno.
Come and join us for our soft opening this Wednesday, August 2nd from 5 pm - 12 am at our freshly painted location on the corner of 44th and Butler Street in Lawrenceville.

Panda Express to open in Fox Chapel.
Panda Express, a national chain of drive-thru fast-casual Chinese restaurants, will open its next location in the Pittsburgh area in Fox Chapel, near the intersection of Fox Chapel and Freeport Roads. It recently started advertising job openings at its Fox Chapel restaurant. It first opened in the Pittsburgh area last summer, and has locations in Cranberry, Moneroeville, and West Mifflin.
